Commission on Basic Ecclesial Communities Animation and the New Evangelization
The commission shares the parish’s vision of being communion of communities which finds expression in the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC). BEC as a way of life, is an instrument of formation and evangelization where Christ is brought to the daily lives and concerns of parishioners, more specifically, amongst neighbors. This core program is the main task of the commission initiated through regular meetings of neighbors (bukluran), sharing of the Gospel and their pains, struggles and victories.
The commission holds the Live Christ, Share Christ (LCSC) program for massive evangelization, in response to the call to the New Evangelization. The banner program of LCSC is a Life in Christ Seminar (LCS) retreat, by which Catholics meet Jesus in a personal way, start to live a life in him, and learn how to share him with others through person-to-person evangelization. It is particularly effective in reaching nominal Catholics and the grassroots, who are the majority of Catholics and who are not consistently active in the life of the Church. LCSC aims to bring Catholics into a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, and to bring them back to an active life in the parish.
The LCSC helps bring Catholics to transformation in Christ, with a continuing personal relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord. There is a focus on living a life of holiness and discipleship, through God’s grace and empowerment by the Holy Spirit. Inputs are given for continuing growth in a life in Christ. The LCSC basic ingredients are prayers, songs, teachings, group discussion and fellowship.
These small Christian communities become the local incarnation of the Church.
