Our Beginnings
On this church once walked the original dedicated lay leaders who faced the challenge of building a community. Their memory humbles us. Here we saw aging priests and religious men and women, wearied over time, yet who daily renewed their vows before God. Some have left the religious or the clerical life; most have remained faithful. Here we bid family members and fellow servants goodbye as they either relocated or were called back to the Father’s house.
Since 1986, this church witnessed infants and adults admitted to Mother Church through the waters of Baptism. Here young and old received the Holy Spirit in Confirmation that strengthened their faith. In this church, couples exchanged their vows in Holy Matrimony as they started their family. In this church as well, countless souls were reconciled to God and the Christian community in sacramental Confession. The church saw two ordinations to the sacred order of the presbyterate take place. Daily we receive the Lord’s Body and Blood in the Eucharist in this church.
This church saw us celebrate good times and gave us hope in difficult moments. We relied on one another for prayer and strength. There were moments of struggles and disagreements. Yet we managed to reconcile with one another and with our past. The journey was never easy, yet we went through it like a runner running his course. In the end, the higher good of charity prevailed.
We look back and thank the Lord for the late Jaime Cardinal Sin for the gift of this parish-community. We thank the pastors who ministered to us over the past forty years and the men and women who took on the responsibility of leading us through the different ministries and organizations. We commit to memory those who have passed on, leaving behind a rich legacy in the history of our parish. We recognize the grace of God at work in everything that have happened to us. We can never thank Him enough.
