Our Beginnings

On these sacred grounds once walked the first devoted lay leaders who faced, with courage and faith, the challenge of building a community. Their memory humbles us still.

Here, aging priests and religious men and women—wearied by time yet steadfast in spirit—renewed daily their vows before God. Some have since taken other paths; most have remained faithful to their call. Here, too, we have bid farewell to family and fellow servants, as they moved to distant homes or returned to the Father’s eternal embrace.

Since 1986, this church has borne witness to the mysteries of faith that mark the Christian journey. Here, infants and adults alike were reborn in the waters of Baptism and welcomed into Mother Church. Here, the young and the old were sealed by the Holy Spirit in Confirmation, their faith strengthened for life’s mission. Within these walls, couples vowed their love in Holy Matrimony, and sinners found mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Here, two sons of this parish were ordained to the priesthood, consecrated for sacred service. Day after day, at this altar, we have received the Body and Blood of the Lord, the very life of our faith and the heartbeat of our communion.

This church has stood with us through our seasons of joy and sorrow—a witness to our laughter, our tears, and our prayers. Here, we found hope when trials came, and strength in one another’s faith. There were moments of tension, struggle, and disagreement, yet grace prevailed; reconciliation followed; charity triumphed. Like runners who have kept to the course, we journeyed together—wounded at times, but always renewed in love.

We look back with grateful hearts to the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, whose vision gave birth to this parish-community. We give thanks for the pastors who shepherded us through the years, and for the men and women who led with dedication across our many ministries and organizations. We remember with love those who have gone before us, whose lives and labors built the foundation on which we now stand.

As we approach fifty years, we recognize the hand of God—
His grace shaping our story, His faithfulness sustaining our journey.
For all that has been, we say thank you.
For all that is yet to come, we say yes, Lord, let it be done.
